Lousy couple of days...
A few days back, I asked you to keep granny in your "good mojo" thoughts. I need for you to keep one more person in the good thoughts. Michelle's brother was in a horrific industrial type accident on Thursday. His arm was caught in the auger of a salt box on the back of his truck. Pulled him in up to the elbow and his hand went around the auger two times.

Rescue personnel dismantled the auger from the salt box and transported both of them to Froedtert hospital, the best place he could go. After hours of surgery, they managed to save his arm but, have no idea what the end result will be. That will take months and months to sort out.

Michelle drove down the day of the accident and came home Saturday. She said he was in and out with the meds, but that he was trying to move his fingers. He was able to wiggle them, so that is a good sign. The doctors are hopeful and they are some of the best at what they do, so we'll remain hopeful with them!!

So, my truck cost me $400.00 to get fixed. I asked him to fix my 4-wheel drive shifter because I could never get it into low-range. That turned out to be an extra $100 bux that I didn't count on! He said it was froze up bad and even broke the shifter trying to get it loose. After some welding and more heat, it finally sprung free and I have working 4-low now, which is much better for plowing! I picked up the truck and dropped off the Yota so he could take care of the leaking water pump. He called me last night and told me that he pretty much had to tear the whole front of the motor off including timing belt cover to get the pump off. Great! I had an idea what this was gonna cost since I had a leaking crank seal and timing belt replaced on that just after I got it. $300.00 for that... I think, I alone, have significantly raised the Gross National Product in Hiles, WI., to an all-time high! I am firmly convinced that both my vehicles took the mother of all dumps this week because I bought a new computer. God wants me to run a PIII forever... Well, tough, that ain't happening!!!

Found On Road Dead...
Yup, that's my truck... FORD... Seems the front fuel tank gremlin, mentioned yesterday, was actually a fuel line aware worm and infected the rear tanks fuel pump too! While merrily driving to work this morning, just a couple miles into my journey, the trunk started to sputter while drawing off the front tank. Hmmm, deja vu all over again. Flip to the rear tank, same procedure taken during the last week, dump the clutch and take off. Um, no, not take off, sputter, die, kaput! {Sounding like my old truck driver self and swearing up a storm and beating the hell outta my dash} I yank the lifeless hunk of $#&* into a restaraunt parking lot and call Michelle, who just went to sleep about 10 minutes earlier.

Long story short... Michelle brings me home to call tow truck and repair shop. Lifeless duct taped turd is on a rollback in 15 minutes time and headed to the shop. Shop calls me early in the afternoon, BOTH fuel pumps have taken a crap! What are the odds of that happening? Well, since my last name is Huml, I would say we have a 248.4% chance of that happening. And, since I just purchased a new computer, of course this will happen to us. Anytime we buy something, tv, computer, refrigerator, something else always blows up... That's the curse of the name.

The guy that runs the shop, Bob's Garage in Hiles, is super nice and suggested only fixing the front tank now, cuz he knows I also need repair work done on the Yota. I did take pictures and sent them to the Moblog. So, about $300-$350 will go down the drain so I can continue to plow my driveway. But, he's also going to fix my 4 wheel drive shifter so that I can put the truck in 4 wheel low range.

I figure that Yota will probably cost a good couple hundred to fix the water pump.

Looks like the profits from yet another web site (BlarneyMilwaukee.com) being hosted on the BadgerTech Network are going to go towards car repairs instead of the new computer. Help!! I need some more websites!! LOL!! Mark, over at Portwoodlane.com has indicated he might bring me another domain;-) I like Mark:-)

Ramblings...
Rumor mill among Wall Street Analysts say my company, the Big Q, might have gone through the downsizing to make us more attractive in a sale. I read in a trade rag today that GE is mentioned as a possible buyer. They own CBS, hmmm, wonder if we could get front row tickets to Letterman... Bonus time might include a 4-pack of light bulbs!

Cold weather sure screws with vehicles... Plow truck seems to have a gremlin in the front tank fuel pump. Spent a couple days not working and now it works. Ice? Maybe a good bump on the road knocked some sense into it... Water pump on Yota is leaking. Confirmed that tonight, oh joy!

I know I have mentioned his site on here before, but tonight I was there and he had a cool video! Most of his stuff is top notch funny stuff! Check it out. Look in the archives for the one with the stun gun!

Bummer about Johnny Carson. Now that was one funny dude! Nice tribute to him on the Tonight Show last night. Funny watching some of those old skits with Rickles. :-)

Tried doing some video editing on my computer to get the races at Eagle River posted out on VintageTwister.com. No good! Maybe when the new one gets here I can put them on DVD:-) Yeah, right!

My Granny over in Michigan had a stroke last week. She came home from the hospital on Monday. My Mom flew over there for a couple of weeks to take care of her and get her back up and running. I guess it was minor stroke(s), but, in doing all the testing they found that her brain isn't getting enough oxygen because she has COPD. If my anatomy and physiology class did a good job teaching me 15 years ago, I think that is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. So she'll need to be on oxygen at home. So, send Granny some good vibes and mojo and if you are the praying type, send them too:-) Thanks!

6 Inches... Hosting a new website...
We got about 6 inches of snow out of the big storm that is drawing all the national attention. I was flipping thru the TV stations tonight and everyone had a reporter in Chicago, Cleveland, Milwaukee, yada-yada-yada. I am just waiting for the day they send Jim Cantore to Crandon! Then, and only then, will Crandon be on the weather maps:-)

I am hosting a new website on one of my servers. A nice little family "cabin" site on Lake Lucerne. They're not far from me and have a web cam and live weather station. That weather station is pretty cool stuff! Mark, the owner of the toys and website seems pretty cool as well. Go check them out, PortWoodLane.com.

It has been a while!!
I have been kind of busy with other things and have neglected my duties to post some junk out here for my faithful fans to read! Please accept my apologies!

Now, on with the junk! It has been real cold! We hadn't gotten much snow until just the last couple of days. The kids, wife, and I are doing well.

Michelle is still enjoying the new job. She just finished an 8 day stretch of being HOME! Bum! But, tomorrow night, she starts 6 in a row. I guess you have to take the good with the bad. She still hasn't been pepper sprayed. I'll be sure to post it here when it happens. I would love to take the video camera up there when they do it!

Sammi is probably a few months away from being done with her braces! Then into the retainers. She really has done good during these last few years. Of course it doesn't hurt when Mom and Dad are riding her butt every day and night:-) Hopefully we can get a break of about a year or so before Mikey needs to go down that path.

My wonderful employer, the big Q, let loose with a corporate tsunami that wiped out nearly 20% of our employees! Edited on 1/25: Since official press releases have the number at 90, I guess I can't say 20%. I'll say nearly 20% and let you draw what fuzzy picture you wanna draw:-). However, if we had a little over 900 employees in November and now have less than 700, that would be more than 90, right? Granted 80 or so were canned in December when they closed an office in CA. More than 20% gone since November. That includes positions they were looking to fill that they are no longer going to fill. Mostly upper management positions but also some trench workers got the axe. I yearn for the days of working for the not-for-profit hospital. These bastards are only worried about $$$. Oh well! Today was a milestone of sorts at work. I made it through my second year. It's another week of severance pay in case I get caught up in the next wave.

We still have not gotten out the sleds! We really have not had much snow, but during the last couple of days and what is supposed to some in the next couple of days, it's time to fire them up. BP and I attended the vintage races at the Eagle River Derby Track a couple weekends ago. That was a blast, as always! This year, BP didn't race because of the new spinal hardware, so we pretty much sat around drinking beer and waiting for his fill in driver, Larry "Porn Star" Reno, to race. Larry won the heat race Friday night and came in 3rd for the final on Sunday. Click on the VintageTwister.com link to the left and check out the Eagle River 2005 pics.

We upgraded our cell phone plan, so that means I had to get some cool/geeky new cell toy. I got a Motorola V400 camera phone. It's a really nice phone! Plus, you can take pictures. So, I started taking them and have setup a "Moblog". For those of you who don't know, moblog is a mobile blog, designed to have entries added via e-mail, including images. I downloaded some software and installed it on my Unix server. Here's the link to Paulie's V400 Moblog. I will only have the latest 20 images on there. Once I have enough to start archiving, then I might do that. You never know what you might see:-)

I gotta come out here more often... I probably forgot a ton of crap I could have written about. Oh well! Check out the Moblog from time to time too!

Happy New Year!!
2005? Already?!?! What the hell happened to 2004? I know that a lot happened in 2004, but where the hell did it go!?!?! I was tucking Mikey into bed after watching all the "countdown" festivities on TV and after having a few beverages when he pretty much summarized all of 2004. This didn't come off the top of his head, we were just reflecting back over the year, and these were his memorable moments from the year.

"I was sad when Mom had cancer last year." I will agree that was the worst, bar none. Enough said, we all hope that every follow up appointment from here on out is uneventful!

"I was happy that you quit smoking last year." I also have to agree with that. In a few days it'll be four months since I last had a puff, no problems so far:-) This was the first NYE that I've gone without one in 25+ years! Even after tearing into those adult beverages shown above:-)

"I'm glad Mom got the job." I think Mikey recognizes that Michelle truly loves this job and she gets satisfaction from doing it. True, the hours suck and it would be real easy for a selfish child to say "I don't like Mom's job". But, that isn't the way he feels, and that was cool to hear him say that last night!

Mikey pretty much hit the bullet points. Sure, other things happened, but we'll keep those as memories. Can't relive everything on this page, you'd never come back!

What is 2005 going to bring? Who knows... It better be better than 2004, that's all I have to say!! As far as our ages go, big changes will come this year!! Michelle and I will turn 40, Sammi will become a teenager, and Mikey will break out of the single digit years when he hits 10!

Happy New Year!!

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
