Camera Phone!
I finally got my issues resolved with my camera phone and cable!  I was able to offload all the pictures I have had on there going back to December!  I sent some over to the Moblog tonight.  I will send more up in a day or two and keep them going throughout the coming week.  Stop on by from time to time and check it out.  Ya never know what might show up.  Pictures from computers, starfish, and beer were sent up tonight.

I need the room on the phone because BP and I will be heading to the Gitchee Gumee Brewfest in Superior, WI on April 1st!  I am sure that I will have plenty of reason to take pictures.  I can't wait to go up and drink some great beers!!  I used my camera phone to capture the events of the day at the  Eagle River Beer Festival last June too!  It was a cool way to remember the day.  I don't wanna be dragging along my nice camera and risk getting a washing with beer!!

The new server has been working out GREAT!!  People are happy, seems real fast and uptime has been great!  Life is good:)

QuadraMed Craps On Some More People!
It was last year, about this time, just before QuadraMed released their 2004 earnings that they cut 20% of the workforce.  I knew a few of those affected, but none of them I worked with closely.  It was after that, and after they announced an office closing in California just before Christmas that I made up my mind to leave as soon as the opportunity presented itself.  QuadraMed made that decision so much easier when they started sending jobs, our jobs, to the frickin Chinese.  I was able to finally make it out at the end of July of 2005.

At that time, a couple of my co-workers disagreed with the way I left the company.  I came in to work, presented my Manager with my letter of resignation, and left.

Well, earnings for 2005 are about to be released, this Wednesday, the 15th.  I guess, as is now a seemingly customary event that coincides with the earnings release, they needed to slaughter some salaries.  This time, they targeted the Eagle River office where I used to work.  This time, three of my good friends and one not-so-close co-worker were fired.  I don't know how many people are working in that the building these days, but probably 15-18 were there before today started.  Now, more than 20% of them are gone.  They're all a real close group; I can't imagine that morale is very high up there.  One of those fired today chided me for the way I left in July of 2005.  She understood why I did what I did, but thought it was selfish and unfair to the other co-workers.  I've been around just about every freakin block and worked in plenty of places, IT for the last 10+ years and blue collar crap the 12 years before that.  I've seen this kind of crap happen before; I was even once permanently laid off.  The writing on the wall was pretty bold last year that QuadraMed only cares about the bottom line, as it is in almost any other company.

I can't help but think I am witnessing a real live game of Survivor...  Do y'all think you get a windfall for being the last one?  You may get an invite to relocate to Reston, VA., but that is about it.  Nobody there is Executive Management and likely won't see a golden parachute.  Nobody in the Eagle River office wants to move away, most have been there many, many years since before it was QuadraMed; back when it was owned by a shyster who ran the company under the name of Pharmacy Data Systems.  When I left the company, I truly hoped that I had made a very large mistake.  I hoped that it would blow up in my face and they would become this great and successful company.  After all, I am still a share holder.  I hoped that so that my friends would not have to get shit-canned.  Wake up in Eagle River!!  When is your job going to go??  How many good people have either been fired or left since QuadraMed has taken over??  I am making a list in my head here and there are a whole bunch of them!  GET THE HELL OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!

First entry on the new server!!! HELLO WORLD!!
I took a bit of time today, before the race, and decided to get some of the Coldfusion ported over to PHP that handles the blog additions, updates, and deletes.  Everything works pretty good so far.  Next will be comments and then the archives.  Then, maybe some new stuff!

I had mentioned in a static post that most of the customers have been migrated over to the new server.  Most everyone seems happy with the speed.  I still have four left to move, well, they are already moved, just need them to make the DNS changes and away they go.

Supposed to get a big dumping of snow tonight!!  I have heard all of the following projections today: 6-10 inches, 8-12 inches, and 6-14 inches.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.  Probably wet heavy crap as it is blowing up from the south.  I am sure that will mean lost power or at least flickers that will last long enough to cause power disruptions.

Thanks to all who sent their condolences for the passing of my Grandmother.  No more Grandparents...  She was the coolest lady and she would have loved the service and the tribute paid to her long and hard life.  This is kind of funny...  Actually sad, if you think about it...  My wife's employer gave her a day off with pay and they even sent a flower to the funeral for MY Grandmother.  My employer doesn't give diddly-dick (thanks Jeff) for a Grandparent.  They used to, but I guess the benefit was abused.  Yeah abused, seems that some people had many, many Grandparents and were taking too many days off for the funerals.  We make over $200 million dollars a year, we're not a small outfit, but we're seriously in the stone ages when it comes to benefits and working towards employee retention.

It's nice to be back...  Hopefully I can get the comments back online in a couple weeks so, you can all tell me to stop complaining.  Until that time comes, I guess I will always be right!!  Hahaha.

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
