Content on this site is my deal... And since, I don't actually ever acknowledge my own birthday, no sense in singing happy birthday to me on here about it. I do it to the rest of my family and friends, quite honestly, because I can. Anyway, eclipsed the big 4-0 last Saturday. Came and went like any other day, as it should. My Dad could not understand why I wasn't making a big deal about turning 40. So why say anything at all? Because I wanna say thanks to family and co-workers who did acknowledge it via cards, e-mails, and even through desk decorating and a cake. That was pretty cool, thanks to all involved! Now, if I am unfortunate enough to see the big 5-0, I will have a BFP, and invite y'all over for beers and margaritas! |

| This Past Weekend... | ||
|
Was kind of busy... Saturday Went to visit DKHT this past Saturday. Went with the intention to drink some beer and give him an introduction to GeoCaching. Beer drinking started great and eventually ended great with a couple of margaritas capped off by a cup of coffee. Spent some time hanging out on the pier, tossing back a few and getting caught up. Sunday Was Dad's day, woke up kinda late, watched some racing after eating a nice breakfast prepared by the wife and kids. See post made on Fathers Day for the real story! Then we headed to BP's house for some more drinking. BP gave the kids rides on the jet-ski, they had a blast. Mrs. BP did some skiing and we ate some good food cooked by our women. It was a great weekend! |

| Happy Fathers Day! | ||
|
To me, my Dad, my Pops-In-Law, my Bros-In-Law, and all the rest of you Dads out there. Remember, today is the day we demand respect from our kids, the one steenking day. Hold on... "What's that honey? The crapper is plugged up? Where are the kids, can't they do it? Oh, playing PlayStation and/or watching cartoons, gotcha. Yes sweetest, I'll be right there, let me finish this sentence and hit the publish button, two seconds." Life goes on... |

| Anybody have these laying around? | ||
Looking for some ammo cans like these so we can start hiding some caches. Really doesn't matter what size, lemme know what you have, all kinds of sizes would be cool. I have one here, somewhere, think it used to hold something special at one time. You can get them pretty cheap on evilbay but the damn shipping is the deal breaker. |

| Caching During Lunch! | ||
|
Bob, AKA "snapper handler", and I went GeoCaching during lunch the other day. Beats the hell out of working through a lunch or just sitting around. Personally I hate lunch hours. What a freakin waste, let me put in my 8 hours and leave. We're going to hit the ones close to Eagle River during the summer. We found Doc Barney just north of town by the airport. Heading out for a visit with DKHT in Hazlehurst this weekend. Plan to grab a cache with him as he likes this kinda stuff and, he has a laptop with GPS too. We'll play with those geek toys and toss back a couple of cold ones:-) Decided not to go with a new color screen GPS, yet. Heard a rumor that Garmin may come out with one a GPS that will be SD card compatible. Their GPSMAP 60CS has a really nice color screen, 256 colors compared to 16 for Magellan! Plus, I also heard that August is about the time the big players in GPS technology start showcasing their new stuff for the coming holiday season. It would probably be smart to see what comes out and what happens to current prices. Not too mention the extra time Magellan will have to create more firmware updates for the eXplorist 600 and hopefully make it rock solid. |

| Tis The Season... | ||

For turtles to lay their eggs. I posted some pics over in the MoBlog when we had a snapper some visit the gravel parking lot at work and decide to bury her eggs there. A very well intentioned co-worker relocated her back to the river bank so that maybe she might decide to lay her eggs elsewhere. Nope. Turtles are stupid. Next day when we came in, she was darn near finished. Took some pictures with the boss' Canon Powershot and uploaded them to my server. They are HUGE pics, but good! Last one shows the eggs pretty good. Every couple of minutes she would pull her right rear foot out a bit, buck up in the air a bit and drop one in. Was really cool! Sounded like a ping pong ball droppin on the floor. When she did that, I snapped the picture, and then she got the foot back in the hole and put the egg in just the right spot. Here is a link to the pictures. |

| Eagle River Beer Festival 2005 | ||
|
Was by my accounting, a huge success!! Not as big as the Great Taste in Madison, WI, but for up here in the "sticks", it was a great event! We met some nice people... We drank some great beers... Some brewers, or at least their representatives, we a major letdown. Can anybody say "Bells Brewing Rep Sucked"? Sure, I knew you could! Best beer around, Bell's Porter, and they send a stingy stone to represent them. Sure, I realize this is a taste testing event and you generally will not receive a full glass. But come on, serving a finger, maybe a finger and a half of beer, is useless. You should have stayed in Kazoo, for all I care! IMPORTANT EDIT: I learned today that the person serving the Bell's beer was not a representative of their brewery. My apologies to Bells. You turn out a great beer! It was too bad it was served by a dolt. I thought I had taken many more pictures with my cell phone. But as I was going through them I realized I just plain screwed up or had way too much fun sampling and never got the picture. One reason I can think of was that it was dark under the tent and pics were not turning out very good. If they come back next year, I'll take my digital camera with flash. Bobby had his camera; hopefully he'll have some good pics. Ok, well, where are the pics, you ask? I didn't post them on the MoBlog like I normally do. Instead, to make life easier on myself, I used Picasa, Hello, and Blogger to post the pics and descriptions. The Blog is located right here. BP and Bobby will hopefully add some input and I can edit the blog with their take as well. |

| It's a Twister!! | ||
|
We had some wicked storms roll through the area tonight!! Thrifty Chicken musta been bustin it double time in the VintageTwister.com geerodge tonight!! Had a reported tornado touchdown about 8 or 9 miles East of us, near Laona. Also had a weather spotter spot a funnel cloud about 3 miles East of Crandon a bit later. I was listening to the county workers on the scanner, it sounded wicked! So much hail in the road a car spun out. Gravel from the shoulder of the road was blown onto the highway. That and the hail, along with the freshly beaten green leaves made for very slick roads. Down near Wausau they had about 2, 3, maybe even 4 reports of tornado touchdowns just to the west in a very short time period. The kids and I busted out the laptop and wireless card and held vigil in front of TV, watching TV reports and the current radar at WunderGround. All is quiet now. |

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
