| Mini Vacation | ||
Taking a few much needed days off of work! Using my birthday day off from work, a couple of days of vacation, and the Fourth of July holiday to make almost a whole week off. Was really hot a few days ago and now tonight, they are talking patchy frost overnight. Fine by me, kills some extra skeeters!! Gonna lay low, so maybe you'll hear from me later. Or, maybe you won't! |

| Camera Phone Phun... | ||
Ok, so I like to capture odd moments with my camera phone... I like to take pics of stuff I happen across. Most of you may have seen the pictures of my cars odometer flipping over at milestone mileages, such as 150,000 miles and again at 175,000 miles, on my MoBlog. What follows is a little different twist on "capturing the moment". I snapped the following picture this morning, on my way to work, during the minute at which I turned 42 years old... 6:47 AM haha. ![]() |

| Great Sadness... | ||
Saw this story online this morning and my heart just sunk... As a former volunteer fireman on a very busy fire department and having worked quite a few real fires, I know how these brave fireman react and throw themselves into harms way... Everyone else is running out and these guys run in...trying like hell to save life and property. How devastating for Charleston, SC to lose nine firefighters. |

| Happy Father's Day! | ||
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there that happen by this little slice of the web! Hope you all are having a great day! I was fed the feast of feasts this morning!! Bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, milk, and coffee... Wow! I am packed full, hehe... No special plans or anything, just wanna kick back and relax like any other typical weekend day. Dreading the thought of going to work on Monday and taking my turn in the on-call rotation. A long week of praying that the department cell phone does not ring. We have some ginormous changes happening this week with our infrastructure. Hoping all that goes well! Two other cats from work will be handling the overnight festivities and I will again be praying that they don't need me and that the phone stays silent. I had a great Ubuntu day yesterday! I had my HP 2600N printer all hooked up and configured when I was running Fedora Core and just never got it hooked up with Ubuntu. Well, I got that squared away yesterday and now my wireless network printer is working! I have further lessened my dependency on Bill Gates and Micro$hat by another two applications. I have Canon digital cameras and they work great with the Canon software in Winblows. I am now using Picasa for Linux and since I upgraded to 7.04 (Feisty) my cameras are now working properly via USB!! I can import the pictures with no problems! This was tested with my SD600 and S2 IS cameras. Another layer of Winblows dependence was my cell phone and the software I used for it. I have always used the Motorola Phone Tools software to upload ring tones and download pictures. Yesterday, I got moto4lin working with my Alltel Razr V3M. This did take some messing around to get it all compiled and into the kernel. The worst part was just getting the phone to connect and be recognized. But, it was well worth the 2+ hours I put into it to lessen my Winblows boot time! Mind you, I have been hacking my cell phones for a number of years now and know all about P2KMAN and all the other tools out there, this I am sure helped. If you've never hacked a cell phone before, I suggest lots of googling and HowardForums!! Disclaimer: I do not advise that anyone mess around with this stuff; if you are not comfortable, you can, and most likely will, brick your phone!! Well, I think this is a good enough place to leave... Being a racing fan, there a Formula 1 race from Indy on today as well as the NASCAR race at Michigan. |

| Been a while... | ||
Been in kind of a funk lately. Not much to say and work life is less than stimulating and most times, frustrating as hell. But, I digress... Time for some updates.... Watching Mike play baseball tonight kinda got me perked up! He played AWESOME!! He hit a clean double knockin in a run. He scored twice and was really doing well on base. Running on every pass ball and beating the throws. One of which was a close one at third base where he slid in just under the tag. It was cool! But I think the best was saved for defense. He fielded a hot grounder and tossed the runner out at first. During one play where a runner was coming to third the ball was flung over his head and to rolled to the fence. The runner, a big lanky kid with some wheels, was haulin butt for home. Mike flew over to the ball, scooped it up, and threw a frozen rope to the catcher, nailing the runner at home. The Great Northern Beer Festival is only 2 days and 17 hours away, as of this writing. Remember boys and girls, Eagle River, Saturday, Hi-Pines Campground!! Weather is forecast to be 75, sunny, and low humidity. A great big gob of high pressure, courtesy of Mother Nature, will grace the beer fest with her presence. BP South and I will be there Friday night and Saturday night. Look for a big old fat guy with a beer in his hand, that will be me, and a skinny little fart saying "I can't drink anymore, I am getting full...", that would be BP South. hehehehe My friend Bill from the beer fest and I have finished our first web work outside of the beer festival. Late last night, The Granite Shop LLC website was launched. Bill doing the graphics and overall design and me plugging it all together. Still have some work to be done, but for the most part, it is functional. Geek speak: Back in November of 2006, I set the goal to run Linux 90% of the time by the end of the year. Well, I have easily beat that goal. Sure, at work, most of the time, I am dealing with Windows, but that is changing more and more. What I was talking about was home use. I haven't figured out how to calculate time while running both, Windows and Ubuntu at the same time, haha, maybe just call it a draw. Hell, I guess I could even include Mac on that too... Michelle has been using it and has said nothing bad, but she mostly does email and web. I am still working on the printer. I gotta start over on that one. Hint to those running, or, thinking about running Linux, buy a printer that is supported, there are TONS of them, actually, most of them are. Mine will work, just takes a little more finagling to get the color working on the laser. Here is an awesome article I came across today. Many, many good points in the article!! My buddy Jeff, over at The BZT Weekly is going to be taking his Internet radio show to Delicious Agony, the #1 progressive rock radio station on the Internet (according to them). Jeff and Jenny have a really cool show! Great music! I host his website and help him out where I can in exchange for some advertising, and because he is a pretty good guy... That and he lives real close to a great brewery!! I have to concentrate on getting my BadgerTech stuff in a better way so that any plugs might actually pay off, haha. Hopefully all this Internet radio and copyright BS gets resolved and Jeff and Jenny, along with the rest of the Internet radio world, won't have to pull the plug on their shows and go into the underground. I have a little bit of vacation coming at the end of this month and through the 4th of July and then a week off at the end of July. At the end of July, we'll be hiding in a cabin way up in the UP of Michigan. I so badly need that time away from work. My vow is to only power on the laptop twice per day and check emails and only respond to those dealing with my business. Everything else will wait! Did I say work sucks yet? No? Oh, well, it does!! |

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
