Podunk News
I was laughing my ass off tonight watching the local news on WJFW NBC-12 our of Rhinelander, WI tonight!  This frickin news station is so Podunk that they make no effort to cover up their construction efforts to the set.  Tonight, between the two anchors was a wall all beat to hell.  I told Michelle that I suppose a simple sheet to hang over the mess was probably not in their operating budget this year.  LOL!  At least they have had the good sense to stop trying to do their own website.  The old website was really nasty!  Their new website is better, but it still looks like some canned application that they added a nasty looking header too, hehe.  It's fun to poke fun of them.  We enjoy watching it to see the newbies fresh outta college get their big chance.  They can't make much money here...  They stay just long enough to get some skills and move on.

I thought it was funny and figured that I would share it with y'all!  I am off the next four days, gunna have some cold beverages and probably check out some racing action at the Crandon Raceway this weekend as all the big trucks come in to race for the Borg Warner Trophy.  Oh yeah, Podunk Weather said there was a chance for "patchy frost" tonight, sweet!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!!!

The BZT Blog ~ The B.S.O.T.D.
I've mentioned Jeff over at Buzzcat.net out here before.  He's a pretty cool dude and has a pretty decent taste in music!  While I don't always side with him in his political beliefs, he is still ok in my book, kinda like that DonKeyHoeTee dude.  Both are frequent posters to the comments section in my blog.  I have had a couple links to his site from mine for some time now.  One was to his blog, which was a static HTML page that he would edit and save.  I did this method of blogging for many, many, many years!  Jeff has finally jumped into the 21st century and put a blogging application on his site!!  Complete with RSS feeds, comments, and trackbacks!  If you haven't checked out The BZT Weekly or the blog before, go ahead and check it out, ya never know what he will have in there!  While there, give a listen to one of his shows!

Fall Colors... Already??
Saw the very beginning of changes heading our way on my drive to work.  Small amounts of yellow/orange/red in some of the trees!!  Already??  Yeah, last part of August and the first part of September is about that time.  A few years ago we lost most of our leaves overnight once during the first weekend in October or there about.  BP and I were Ducken Off with the boys at the Unkle's cabin.  We woke up one morning and there were leaves everywhere...  Except in the trees!

Next to winter, fall is the bestest time of the year!  I love the cool evenings and frosty mornings.  Guys at work are already pissing and moaning about the impending winter, haha.  It is so funny to hear them talk; ya'd think we were north of the Arctic Circle, haha.

Bring it on, I say!!

Ahhhh, Air Conditioning!!
It is a nice cool 75 in the house this evening, down from 79 when they first turned it on today.  It is slightly humid outside, but not so much in here.  I am really impressed with the furnace fan motor.  You can't hear it, at all, gonna make watching TV in the family room better and the kids should appreciate the quiet this winter.  The installers got everything hooked up in about 7 hours.  They only woke Michelle up once or twice when they were blasting through the outside wall.

Anyone wanna buy a used Trane XL 90 furnace?  I kept our old one, just in case, might as well since it still works.  Ya never now, it could be worth a couple cases of decent micro beer.

The Forest County Republican, our local paper, had a little spot in the paper about Michelle donating her hair to Locks of Love.  I know it has been done by others in town and it is cool the paper helps to bring awareness to it by sacrificing a little 1x1 spot for a mention.  Now if the could only spell our name right, haha...  Hummel?  haha, been dealing with that my whole life.

We survived the weekend camping adventure with the BP South Clan.  I vowed to never do it again, haha.  It was fun, but it sure jacks up my back.  The Loons on the lake were really cool to hear!  I normally would get pissed if something wakes me up, but not that, it was cool.  The last night an owl was somewhere close and woke me up too, but again, that was cool.  It was cold the first night, but nothing bad, low 40's; mild the second night stripping off layers throughout the night.

Good nite from cold country!

Reflective Time of Year...
It was two years ago this past week when Michelle had her first surgery and a few days after that, we found out it was cancer.  Last year at this time it was a little difficult for us replaying all that crap, wondering, playing out what-ifs, you know, overreacting kinda stuff.  This year, same for me...  Haven't really talked with Michelle much about it, but I am pretty sure she is feeling the same.  Wondering, playing out what-ifs...

Michelle did an awesome thing today!!  She got the mother of all haircuts!  She got about 10 to 11 inches cut off and is donating it to Locks of Love, which is a really great program that makes wigs for kids under 18 who have lost their hair due to a medical condition.  My friend, Jeannie, has also done the same thing.  Very cool for people to do that.  I could never do that as I cannot stand having my hair any longer than 1/4 inch.

We're going to go camping with the BP South clan this weekend.  No place special, just a campground about 40 miles away.  Wonder if the campground has WIFI...  Hmmm.  I am in some serious need of de-stressing.  Hopefully my back won't crap out much more than it is already crapped out.

We're awaiting the call from the lead installer dude on when the air conditioner will be installed.  Michelle said he would call by the end of this week, once they knew when all the stuff would be in.  We're also replacing the furnace and adding a humidifier, which will hopefully help in the winter. Our split level house has a real issue keeping the temp the same between levels.  This new furnace is going to solve all of that for us!  It has an ultra quiet, variable speed blower motor that will run continuously at a lower speed, when the furnace is firing the motor will gradually increase speed.  This will keep the air circulating and help to even out the temps.  Plus, the furnace is a two stage furnace meaning that it will probably spend 70-80% of its time running at a reduced output to also help keep temps more uniform and improve efficiency.  We used to turn our furnace fan on and let it run to keep air circulating and even out the temps, but that just wasted a ton of electricity and in order to get the temps near even, we'd need to leave it run most of the day.

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
