I tore into that poor girl...
I was sitting in my home office today taking care of a few problems that had come up at work due to some recent changes...  Now mind you, it is Saturday and I am a salaried induhvidual, meaning, no pay for working today...

My mood was right for the phone to ring and for the number to be "Out Of Area 000 000 0000".  I knew it was one of them Steve Kagen or John Gard morons calling!  I answered nicely, "hello..."  After a second or two of pause while they realized it was not voice mail and they needed to get on the phone with me, a timid little squeaky voice said "hi, um, hello, I am calling on behalf of Steve Kagen...".  It was at that point that I cut her off and I didn't hear a peep from her until just before I hung up.  I went into a tirade and just lit that poor girl up about all the phone calls and voice mails I have received over the past 3 or 4 weeks.  I never paused long enough for her to get a word in, she had to endure my rage and ever rising voice.  Those of you know me personally know that I have a very good voice for yelling, just ask my kids!  Jake, our black lab, about shits himself if I call out his name when using that "I am pissed" tone.  I told this girl at the end of my little hissy fit that if she had the power to speak directly with Steve Kagen to tell him this, "he will not get my vote because he is an ignorant son of a bitch who refuses to stop calling me and blasting his opponent".  She giggled a little bit and I hung up...  She probably giggled because she agreed with me, haha, she was probably just making minimum wage to sit with a headset on while the computer dumped the next sucker that answered into her queue.  I have no reason to vote for either candidate.  Each has only taken to blasting the other and never once says what they are for.  I wished there was a Libertarian alternative...

Speaking of a Libertarian alternative.  I checked the Libertarian website and there is only one Libertarian candidate running for election in Wisconsin.  He's running for State Treasurer...  I could give a crap about who the hell counts the money in this state since the bean counters all answer to auditors anyway.  Party affiliation in that race makes about as much sense as party affiliation in a Sheriff or County Clerks race.  I will cast my vote for that one lone Libertarian candidate.  I am hoping that the Libertarian Party can get a decent player in the 2008 presidential election.  If they get at least 5% of the vote in 2008, they will qualify for matching campaign funds in 2012!  That would be huge for them!  Time to eliminate the two party system.

Oh yeah, and since I was on a roll, and still working on a Saturday, and still fuming...  My cell phone carrier called!!  Some import from the middle east asked me how I liked my service and if I was happy.  Oh shit, that poor dude got it worse than the Kagen chicky did!!  Cellone has found numerous ways to piss me off with their customer service and ever changing services, for which, I signed a contract.  Hello, you can't be changing the rules during the contract, but, there is a little clause within that contract that gives them the right to make changes; however, there is no loop hole for me to get out...  Whatever, I asked Abu if he bothered to look at my history before calling and bothering me...  If he had, I am sure he would have seen the secret screen reserved for us unruly customers.  The one where there is a big red asterisk next to my name denoting the fact that I do not like getting shat upon.  I requested that they stop calling me again and to please, yet again, make a note in my account that I will be leaving them when my contract expires.  I told them that Altell will get my business...  Michelle was standing in the doorway of the office when she heard me lay into Abu.  She was laughing...  She came in and gave me a hug around the neck and I said those emmer effers better stop calling!!

I am done working now, but I eagerly await my next phone victim.  That punk ass, John Gard, tried calling too, but it was an automated message.  I should have yelled at that one too, just for kicks.  Therapy, hehe.  Wow, two posts today!  Dang!

Daylight Saving Time comes to an end...
Make sure you set your clocks back tonight before heading off to bed!  Michelle forgot a couple years ago and wound up in an empty church parking lot, haha.  Back in the old days, this night was akin to a holiday...We got an extra hour of bar time!  But, now that I am a fuddy duddy old fart, this just means one more hour of glorious sleep!  I always liked those states that didn't change.  When I was a truck driver I always dreaded a delivery in Indiana...  Back then only certain counties changed or didn't change.  Indianapolis was one that didn't change, if I remember right...  Half the year they were on Central Time and the other half on Eastern Time.  I think the whole state is now on Eastern Time.

I read that this will be the last time we set our clocks back in October!  Starting next year, we will set the clocks forward on the second Sunday of March (11th) and then back on the first Sunday of November (4th).  It doesn't much matter to me, I like the darkness, haha.  I could live up in Alaska, no problems...  Well, the problem might be the end of June beginning of July when the sun is up almost 24 hours a day.  That does suck!  I have experienced that.  Really hard going to bed at 1 AM when you can still see the sun.  I drove my rental car from the airport to the B&B at around 1 AM and didn't have to use my headlights...  Weird!

Oh yeah, this is also the time when you should replace those smoke detector batteries.

I can't wait for the elections to be over!
I am sickened by the sheer volume of calls we get from automated machines on behalf of or from candidates running for office.  Here is an open message to all of them....
Hey {insert name of lowlife bureaucrat here},

STOP EFFEN CALLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,
The Effer who will not be voting for your dumb ass!
Every frickin night...  At least once or twice they call.  I have stopped picking up the phone because the caller id always says "Out Of Area 000 000 0000".  But then, those effers leave a damned two minute voice mail anyway.

Can ya tell I am pissed?  I would love for Steve Kagen or John Gard to stop by my house some night.  I'd beat the living shit out of them and serve my time for disorderly conduct.  Wonder if I could be an inmate at the jail if my wife works there... maybe Mich and I could squeeze in a conjugal visit, hehe.  Tick frickin tock...  Can't wait!

The local school district could be added to this list as well for their automated calls...  Three nights in a row before parent teacher conferences we got the same automated message reminding us about the conferences.

On a happy note...  Firefox 2.0 is out and I for one am loving the spell checker in my text box here.  Yeah, I make typos all the time, but this is kinda cool, usually I run it through Word and leave the typos I like in here and fix the real ones.  Now they show up in the text area box!  Way cool!  And, you can spell check a single line input box by right clicking and selecting spell check this field.  Awesome stuff!!  IE 7 was released too, I have been using it in BETA for a number of months already.  It is alright, but Firefox is the browser everyone should use, no exceptions!

Anyone got a spare trumpet?
Hahaha...  Michael is about to enter band.  He has proclaimed that he wishes to play the trumpet.  So, being the kind and loving parent that Michelle is, haha, she wants to get him one.  I refuse to do the rip off rental that the local music store wants to wrangle you into, so we've been checking evilbay.  I figured what the hell!  Maybe, just maybe, one of my 2.3 readers might have one laying in a closet somewhere.  Hopefully it isn't too badly rusted and isn't some rare horn that is worth hundreds of dollars.  If ya got one, drop me a line!

Tonight was Sammi's first concert with the senior band.  She played tenor sax with another tenor sax and a few alto sax players.  Kinda hard to pick her out in the crowd, but all in all, the collective group sounded pretty damn good.  They looked good in their tux's too!!  Sammi would kill me if I posted a picture.  BP South's nephew was carrying the group with his smooth trumpet play!  Their music director isn't much older than they are, but he seemed pretty cool.  I turned around and said to BP South, "I thought he was a friggin student...".  Thankfully my doctor is still older than me!

Other than pimping y'all for a trumpet, not much new...  Been battling the typical fall cold, plus more affects of middle-age...  My damn hip has been giving me problems lately.  Kinda weird cuz the pain it pretty intense and it shoots back into my butt and down my leg, much like the dreaded back, but I can definitely tell that it is coming out of the old ball and socket deal.  One of my MUCH younger coworkers said he stretched his out once and it hurt like an emmer effer for a while, so we'll see where the pain goes.  In a way, it is kinda nice having two things ache...  I can take one goofball and both feel groovy, hehe.

Voting Day Fast Approaching!
Today I was reading some of my favorite blogs and saw this funny graphic over at the B.S.O.T.D.  Go check that out, it was good.  Jeff is encouraging everyone to vote Democrat.  I wish politics and voting was that simple...  In days of old you could pretty much pull the straight party ticket lever and get someone whose values you shared and felt confidence in.  But, with all the corruption and scandal in ALL forms of government, you can't simply say vote Democrat, Republican, Green Party, Libertarian, or pick your poison.  Take for instance the Wisconsin Governor's race...  Both of the candidates are complete weasels, neither deserves the job.  I have my reasons for saying this...  I am not going to write about it here, I don't think the database column is big enough to store that rant.  Suffice it to say, I have done my share of reading and I keep up to date with local, state, and national news on daily basis.  Just ask my family how many times per day I watch the news, haha.  I'll probably write my own name in for Governor!  I'll be pissed if I win and have to move to Madison again, but they have good beer down there!  I only wish there was a Libertarian candidate I could vote for so that the vote will not go to waste.  Some people will claim that you also waste your vote when voting for one of the underdog parties like the Green or Libertarian party.  I disagree...  I think it gives the party strength for future elections...  It's a damn shame that it would have to come to that, but I am sick and frickin tired of picking the "lesser of two evils".  No doubt the Dems have the upper hand; the Republicans have pretty much screwed themselves.

But, I am done...  I am not going to ask you to vote for any particular party or candidate...  Hell, you're an educated individual, go do some friggin research and vote for who YOU think should be elected.  The key here is to vote...  If you don't, you are not allowed to bitch about the outcome afterwards...  Do your civic duty and shag your ass out to the polls on November 7th.

Be sure to check out the latest poll on the page about straight party line voting...  Hint...  It is over there -> on the right someplace.

First Snow of 2006!
That white gold began falling from the sky today!  It was nice to see it!  Parts of the UP will be getting a foot or more tonight as the cold front blows in across Lake Superior and dumps a ton of LES on them.  I prefer colder temps over the warmer ones.  I prefer snow over rain.  In other words, my time of the year is just starting to hit!  While most sit around and complain about it, I love seeing them in misery, haha.  I snapped a pic while driving home tonight.  If you click it, you'll head over to the Moblog and see a couple more.  I added some other pics out there last week, or maybe it was two weeks ago.  I have no clue, the weeks just blur from one to the next.

Injun Summer & Wifey Is Away!
Today was really nice out, mid 60's...  Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the mid 70's!  Maybe I will fire up the AC one last time, haha, definitely be wearing shorts to work this week.  The rest of the week it is supposed to hover around 60 +/- a few degrees.  Just the kind of weather to get a person sick!  Cold and rainy one week, warm and kinda wet the next.  Oh well, if ya don't like the weather around here, MOVE!  hehe,

Michelle is off to a training class this week.  That means I get to spread out and sleep sideways in the bed if I wanna, and yup, I wanna!!  She gets to live on an expense account and eat at nice places and drink happy hour beverages at the hotel lounge.  Lucky gal!  Hope the kids survive; old softy, aka the child liaison, will not be here to keep telling me, "stop being an old crab and lighten up".

Have a good week!

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
