| Under the weather... | ||
Wanted to come out and post some stuff the last couple of days, but it'll have to wait; I got some creepin crud bug from the wife and kids that is kickin my butt. Sammi has bronchitis and is taking meds and Mikey had the croup and sounded like a harpooned seal for a week. Each received codeine cough syrup, hmmm, lucky buggers. Well, Mikey finished his up and Sammi is well on the way to finishing hers. If I am not feeling any better by Friday, I'll hit the doctor up for some of my own liquid gold!! I am the worst person when I get sick!! Talk about your grouchy-assed bear! That's me! I hate anyone doing anything for me, hell; I even hate myself, haha. Hope you all had a decent Thanksgiving! Now, get the hell outta here and leave me alone!! |

| Maybe I could be a Libertarian... | ||
I read this tonight and wanted to share it with the 2 people who read this crap... I have always liked the way Libertarians think but, I have never give them much real consideration because they're the party that always gets 1% of the vote on election day. This snippet from the link above is pretty much exactly the way I feel: Libertarians believe in personal liberty and freedom with only the most minimal government intrusion. We are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. People make choices and they are held accountable for their outcome. In short, do all the crystal meth you want, just don’t expect me to pay for your rehab.I pretty much feel that ANY and EVERY politician is corrupt. They all want that power, once they get it, they abuse the hell out of it. Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter. It is all a game and the constituents are the pawns. You can leave comments bashing Republicans and Democrats or saying he's bad, she's bad, they're bad. I will just say that they are ALL bad. Here is another snippet from that article; this speaks volumes for what our fat government is all about. There are 1,322 words in the Declaration of Independence, 66 words in The Lord’s Prayer and 22 words in the Pledge of Allegiance. Yet the federal government currently has regulations for the sale of cabbage in the U.S. that total 26,911.Democrats and Republicans have been screwing it up for so many years and each party has their respective followers so brainwashed into "their was is the only way", maybe this is what we need... I think I'd be tempted to drink the Libertarian kool-aid over the other two any day of the week. Let the political bashing in the comments commence!! I have to do this every now and then. Normally I just like this place to be fun, and not so serious, but I really did like what I read in that article. I might even do a bit more digging around on the subject for my own edification. |

| First REAL snow of the season! | ||

I would say that we had nearly one foot here in Crandon. Michelle snapped a couple pics off the deck this morning when she got home from work. They all pretty much look like this one. Click on it to see a larger view. I also snapped some pics with the camera phone today on my way into work. As soon as it is done charging, I will post them on the Moblog. |

| 50+ Caches Now! | ||
Added a few pics over at the Moblog from caching yesterday. Really over did it on my back. Some good hills to go up and down and just too much walking really did me in. We did get another one of those highly sought after White Jeep Travel Bugs, it was worth it. We got it from a multi-cache which is really cool! You find the first stage to get the coordinates to the second stage. The first stage we found yesterday had the coordinates written on a fishing lure hanging about 5 feet off the ground tied to the branch of a pine tree. That was pretty hard to find. We started GeoCaching just over a year ago and it is still really fun. We have 50+ finds now. We bought some of our own travel bugs to try to get out into the wild, have to come up with some clever little ideas/goals for the bugs. Was thinking that one of them needs to head to Alaska, the hard way, up the Alcan Highway, not in someone's luggage on a plane. |

| DonKeyHoeTee Speaks! | ||
The dudes that host my Unix server had a network hiccup today and a few of my customer sites were down for a little while. So, tonight, I am sitting around, drinking a beer, or three or ten, and I'm checking all the sites I have hosted on that box. I wanna make sure they are all up and running and everything is cool. What do I find?? I find that DonKeyHoeTee (DKHT) has posted some content, er, rant on his website! Cool!! Check out his Google search link, under the windmill! LOL! |

| The Power of Search... | ||
Tonight, I received a comment on the moblog. That, in and of itself, is no big deal, I get tons of hits every day on this site, and the moblog site, through search engines, mostly google. BP will usually chime in with some kind of comment from time to time, as will DKHT or Jeff, but seldom do we get anything from a stranger. What was cool was that he is involved in the business and was down in Cancun with the owner of the business and they were doing some searching, maybe doing a bit of research on how their site is ranked, and came across my site. Cool! I will name drop Fiesta Cancun in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin here, and we'll see if anyone else surfs in, haha. If ever you find yourself in Oconomowoc, stop on in and say hi to them and get a super-size margarita!! You won't be sorry, the food was great too! He even made mention in the e-mail swap that we exchanged after the comment about getting more Lakefront Brewery beverages in there. Yet another reason to stop |

| WOW! | ||
This guy tells it like it is... He ain't sugar coating anything. I happen to wholeheartedly agree with him! Until reading this article, I'd never heard of the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson. The Rev and Bill Cosby should go on a crusade or tour:) I'll bet that Louis Farrakhan, that whacko nut bag, ordered a hit on this dude. Better watch your back Rev!! Farrakhan and the "mother wheel" are probably coming for you!! Here is the link to the article. If you don't know about the "mother wheel" reference above, here is a brief explanation of what I heard in a few TV interviews. Seems that Farrakhan, the whacked out crack smoker, actually believes there is a "mother wheel" hovering above Earth. It is funny watching his top lieutenants, disciples, followers, whoever, or better yet, whatever they are on TV trying to defend him. When asked if THEY believe in the "mother wheel", they usually opt to answer with, "um, well, Mr. Farrakhan is um, well......YOU'RE THE DEVIL". They can't answer, they just call the interviewer the Devil and rip off their microphone and end the interview. I have seen that twice now. LOL!! Idiots!! Where was Farrakhan when they were selling tickets to ride on the tail of the Hale-Bop comet!!!???!!! He would have been a perfect fit into the Heaven's Gate Cult!!! |

| Random Hexadecimal Encoding on Email Comments! | ||
I love the fact that I never receive spam from the MoBlog!! The MoBlog encodes the e-mail address to combat those spam bots that try to harvest email addresses. I setup that same functionality for the comments that I created for this site. If you view the source for the comments page, your email address will look like this inside the HREF tag. (I had to breakup the line so that it would display nicely on this page). mailto:java_ hater@javasu cks.net It is a random assortment of hex chars that messes with the bots, big-time, but it is a string that your browser can render, without problem. Just hover over the email address on the comments page and look at your status bar. Or, click on one and see how it opens in your email client. Cool stuff!! |

| New comments are live... | ||
I decided I really didn't want to wait much longer before I tackled the comments. I still have the old Haloscan comments from October and back. I took Jeff and DKHT's comment from November 3rd and added them to the database. Basic functionality is the same. Name and comment are required if you want to submit the comment, but I don't require that you enter an e-mail address or web page. There are still a couple things I want to do. One is to obfuscate the e-mail addresses that anyone enters in a comment so the spam bots don't get them. That is done in the moblog and works pretty nice. Maybe setup a cookie so that once you enter your info in the form, I will retain it so you don't have to keep entering it in when you come back. Who knows... Almost everyone I know uses their browsers feature of populating form fields when you start entering your info. I need more practice with cookies anyway. So if you break the comments drop me a line and let me know how you did it! I am sure there will be a couple small headaches in the days to come. It was a fun exercise! Especially that query that gets the count of the comments in one table while selecting the blog posts from another and then making sure they output correctly! If you have any suggestions for the comments, let me know. |

| Hehehe, ooops... | ||
Man, some days, I sure can be a dufus! I came out here tonight to add my Google Earth post and I forgot to finish a couple things with the bloggin software on the back end. Specifically the part where a smart person would INSERT a NEW record into the database, NOT UPDATE an existing record!! DOH!!! I made my first post the other day using this and it was overwritten by the Google Earth post. I fixed that up and added a couple other features and some better error checking. Also added a preview page to see what this will look like before activating it and posting it live. It all works really, really cool. Well, now it does! |

| Google Earth! | ||
Have you downloaded and tried Google Earth yet? If you like satellite views of the world and some crazy zoom; this is 'gotta have' software! Best part of course is, free!! If you wanna get crazy with it and get more features you can pay $20.00 for a one year subscription or get the big-dog package and go Enterprise. I think the free version would suit most. It is loaded with all kinds of places you can check out. The Grand Canyon, Mt. St. Helens is AWESOME!! You can learn more about it here. You can download the free package here and check the requirements of your system. One word of warning... You need a broadband connection, sorry DKHT, it gets its maps from the web. I didn't notice much latency on my system and with my connection. |

Keep a tight one... (Thanks Jimmy)
